Will Be Heading Home Monday

Hi all,

I will be heading home Monday if I can get a flight. My daughter delivered a healthy son this morning.

I've really enjoyed being here and to those of you who have followed this travel blog, thanks!
The next time I travel will be Halloween weekend.

A few more photos: this is a two-foot salmon, swimming upstream, the photo taken from the bridge looking down on Chapman Creek. There are still a few salmon swimming upstream. They go some distance, then find a pool to rest in, then keep going.

An early morning view of Davis Bay.

The gravel pits are owned by the native bands on the native lands: Here is the gravel chute coming down from the mountain,

And here is a photo I took the other day of the gravel pier where the gravel is loaded onto barges, in the bay. The chute goes all the way out to this loading pier; the loading pier is also owned by the Sechelt Native Band.

I mentioned in another blog that the word Sechelt means "land between two waters". This sign shows the way the native bands spell the word: Shíshálh. Many of the businesses in Sechelt are actually built on land leased from the Sechelt Native Band. Walmart thought about coming to Sechelt, but the Sechelt Native Band would not sell them any land, but would only lease it to them. Walmart refused to do this, so there is no Walmart in this area.

One last photo from this area, this one in Roberts Creek. My daughter's acupuncture treatment was at an office up this road.

 Yours in travel,
Grace
